Cancelling a train ticket? See exactly how much you'll get back — IRCTC deducts a cancellation charge that depends on your class, ticket status, and how early you cancel.
Indicative estimate based on Indian Railways cancellation rules. GST on AC classes, dynamic or premium-Tatkal fares, and special trains can change the exact figure. Tatkal confirmed tickets are generally non-refundable. Always confirm on IRCTC. Not affiliated with IRCTC.
The cancellation rules
Confirmed tickets
RAC & waitlisted tickets
Cancelled up to 30 minutes before departure: only a clerkage charge of ₹60per passenger is deducted. Fully-waitlisted e-tickets that don't get confirmed are refunded automatically — you don't need to cancel.
Tatkal
Confirmed Tatkal tickets are generally non-refundable, except when the train is cancelled or rescheduled by more than 3 hours.
