irctcwhen is a free, independent tool that answers one question precisely: when does IRCTC open booking for my journey?

Since November 2024, Indian Railways opens reservations 60 days before the date of journey, at 8:00 AM IST. It's an easy rule to miscalculate — and missing that morning can mean missing the train entirely on popular routes. We do the math, account for the train's origin-station departure, and tap you on the shoulder so you're ready the moment booking opens.

What we do

  • Tell you the exact day and time booking opens for any journey date
  • Handle the origin-station rule for long-distance trains (by train number)
  • Send reminders via Telegram, Google Calendar, or .ics download
  • Show a clock-synced Tatkal countdown so you click at the exact second
  • Help you check PNR status and understand waitlists

What we don't do

  • We do not book tickets or log into your IRCTC account
  • We do not automate bookings (that violates IRCTC rules)
  • We are not affiliated with IRCTC or Indian Railways
